FORTH OF JULY: A PRELUDE—Activity becomes performance—to re-play what was just done. Forth of July: a Prelude was an attempt to re-perform the preparations made for an independence-day party in a densely-jungled backyard of Atlanta. An attempt to divide time through regimented cuts into fluid gestures. To create a suspension or collapse of time—a gesture expanded over distance.
Landscapes are sites for excavation. We leave traces within the landscape, residue of our presence and actions. Splinters of evidence trigger my desire to choreograph.
